In accordance with paragraph 3 (s) of your Despatch No. 79 of the 9th of March, 1901, and with reference to my Despatch No. 348 of the 7th instant, I have the honour to inform you that I have granted to Mr. Charles Ford, Superintendent of the Botanical and Afforestation Department, a pension of $2,450 per annum at 3s. 8d. to the dollar, to commence from the 7th of December next.

As I informed you in my Despatch No. 340 of the 30th ultimo, Mr. Ford left the Colony on the 6th instant on vacation leave and is proceeding to England by way of North America. The necessary instructions have been given to the Crown Agents to issue the pension to Mr. Ford as it becomes due.
3.
I may add that this Government regrets the loss of Mr. Ford's valuable services. He has during his long career in this Colony done much to improve the healthiness of the island and by his scheme of afforestation to render living thereon more pleasant.
